IMF Tune - Bringing Back the Exchange Connection Filter
IMF Tune - Bringing Back the Exchange Connection Filter

24th Feb 2005 - WinDeveloper IMF Tune freeware

WinDeveloper IMF Tune is a new freeware application available from WinDeveloper.com. This server side component is meant to couple the MS Exchange Intelligent Message Filter. The component automatically inserts the SCL rating into the subject of all mails classified as Junk E-mail. It simplifies identification of false positives, as well as fine tuning of the IMF SCL configuration.

The component just needs to be deployed on the machines where IMF is installed and it will handle all mails processed by IMF.

The SCL rating is inserted as a prefix to the mail subject. Thus at the client's Junk E-mail folder one can sort all mails by SCL rating. Since false positives are most likely to happen with the lowest SCL rating, sorting enables verification of these mails first.

Once the SCL is available at the mail subject, it is easy to identify which ratings are causing most false positives. You may then choose to raise the SCL level at the IMF configuration.

Conversely if lots of spam is reaching your inbox, than you may want to lower the SCL level. You can then monitor the new mails being filtered and determine whether the new settings are causing a significant increase in false positives.
