WinDeveloper OWA Recall and Internet Explorer 10

Internet Explorer 10 users may be unable to use the WinDeveloper OWA Recall extension unless an important update is installed at the Exchange Client Access server machine where OWA Recall is running.

IE10, the Internet Explorer version shipping with Windows 8, has caused significant problems with many ASP.NET applications. Microsoft is providing fixes to be installed on machines running Internet Information Server. These fixes are now also available through the Microsoft Update service. Hence servers that are regularly updated might never experience the problem discussed here.

Problem Details

Users may experience problems when trying to recall emails from their browser using the OWA Recall extension. On clicking the OWA Recall icon from the Outlook Web App/Access interface, the OWA Recall email list interface opens normally. However users are unable to recall any email.

Double-clicking an email won't open the "Recall This Message" dialog. Likewise all other JavaScript driven controls will be unresponsive.

The problem only concerns IE10 when NOT in Compatibility View mode. So a quick workaround simply involves running IE10 in Compatibility View mode. To switch to Compatibility View select:
Tools (Alt-T) | Compatibility View

To solve the problem for all users it is best to update the server where OWA Recall is installed. The fix can be downloaded and installed separately from here:
