IMF Tune Moderator Requires the IIS Static Content Service

The IMF Tune Moderator ASP.NET application may be run on any Internet Information Server (IIS) version from IIS6 to IIS8. In this article we highlight the importance of having the IIS Static Content Service installed. This is the service responsible for displaying basic visual elements such as images.

Normally one expects a web server would always support the display of images. However with IIS7 and later we received reports of problems where the IMF Tune Moderator was not showing any images. For example this is how the Moderator login page would look like:

...and the Moderator email list page:

This happens if the IIS Static Content Service is not installed. To solve the problem we just need to install this service. In II7 go to:

Programs and Features | Turn Windows Features On or Off | Internet Information Services

IIS7 Static Content Service

In Windows 2008 R2, IIS7.5 we find this under:

Server Manager | Roles | Web Server (IIS) | Role Services

IIS7.5 Static Content Service

In Windows 2012, IIS8 we find this under:

Server Manager | Local Server | Add Roles and Features Wizard | Server Roles | Web Server (IIS) | Web Server | Common HTTP Features

IIS8 Static Content Service
