Uninstalling IMF Tune from 'Apps & Features' Fails

Windows provides two interfaces for uninstalling applications. IMF Tune should always be uninstalled using the Control Panel | Programs and Features interface and not Apps & Features.

Every so often we get support requests asking us about problems encountered with uninstalling WinDeveloper IMF Tune and/or WinDeveloper IMF Tune Moderator/Reporting. The problem concerns launching the uninstallation from the Apps & Features interface. This fails with:
"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

Apps and Features

The solution to this problem is very simple once you know it. Don't use the Apps & Features interface. Instead use the Control Panel | Programs and Features applet as follows:

  1. Open the Control Panel

  2. Select All Control Panel Items

    Control Panel

  3. Open Programs and Features applet

    Programs and Features

  4. Launch the IMF Tune Uninstall from here.

The problem described here and its solution, is true for both IMF Tune components i.e. WinDeveloper IMF Tune and WinDeveloper IMF Tune Moderator/Reporting.
