IMF Tune - Bringing Back the Exchange Connection Filter
IMF Tune v5 BETA ReleasedWe just made our first step towards the next IMF Tune major release. IMF Tune v5 BETA is now available for download. At the moment IMF Tune v5 looks nearly identical to IMF Tune v4.2. However under the hood it is a very different product laying the foundation for the new functionality we plan to include with the final release. Exchange 2010 SupportThe main reason for releasing this beta is to provide Exchange 2010 support. V5 was extensively tested with Exchange 2010 RC1 on both Windows 2008 and Windows 2008 R2 platforms. As in the case of Exchange 2007, IMF Tune works with the Exchange 2010 Hub and Edge server roles. Thus, if you are planning to be among the first to deploy Exchange 2010, you now also have an IMF Tune release that goes with it. Apart for supporting Exchange 2010, IMF Tune v5 will of course also continue to support Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2007. Changes in Platform SupportExchange 2010 introduced more scenarios for us to support. This has prompted us to revise the set of platforms to be supported by IMF Tune v5. Here we focused on the main stream scenarios where Exchange 2003, 2007 and 2010 are being employed today. As a result we are discontinuing support for:
Whereas Microsoft discontinued Windows 2000 support some years ago, Exchange 2007 32-bit is only available for evaluation purposes. Thus we expect the impact of this change to be minimal. The following table summarizes all the supported platforms for IMF Tune v4 and v5.
UpgradingIMF Tune v5 can be installed directly on top of IMF Tune v4.x installations. This allows the installation to convert all configuration settings automatically. Earlier IMF Tune versions can be upgraded by uninstalling the older release and installing version 5 to the same disk location. For a detailed discussion of all possible upgrading/migration scenarios please refer to Upgrading/Migrating to IMF Tune v5. LicensingIMF Tune v5 will run in 30 day evaluation mode on first install. Following that, extended evaluation licenses will be provided on request. Please note that IMF Tune v4.x licenses will not work with IMF Tune v5. We will be providing free upgrade licenses to users that have a valid Maintenance Agreement once IMF Tune v5 reaches final release. Version InformationThis information applies to IMF Tune v5.0 build number 5.0.010.05. If IMF Tune is already installed you can verify the current build number from the configuration. In IMF Tune v3 and earlier the build number is available under the WinDeveloper category. In IMF Tune v4 and later the build number is available under the Miscellaneous category.
